Preventing skin-stripping and blistering using a non-adherent perforated ethylene methyl acrylate film dressing: a case study evaluation

چکیده
Surgical wounds generally heal by primary intention with few complications (Ousey et al, 2011). However, certain patient factors and surgical types may predispose postoperative incisions to skin blistering, particularly if an unsuitable postoperative wound dressing is used. Skin blistering occurs when the epidermis becomes separated from the dermis and results from continued friction on the skin (Ravenscroft et al, 2006); postoperative dressing choice can influence the development of blisters. Skin stripping can also occur when adhesive dressings are removed, particularly on patients with fragile skin (Cutting, 2008).

Background: Prolactin, a neurohormone, can act as a stimulator of immunity in a number of autoimmune diseases and its high levels have been shown in these diseases. Objective: This study was designed to discover the possible role of prolactin in autoimmune blistering skin diseases. The main goal was to compare the serum prolactin levels and the frequency of hyperprolactinemia in autoimmune skin...

Background and Aim: Lesions of the skin can impair its vital function to protect humans against external pathogens. Therefore, producing a suitable wound dressing to repair injuries is always one of the challenges of researchers. The present study aims to Synthesize a hydrogel film for wound dressing applications. Methods: In this research, a hydrogel film of polyvinyl alcohol / hyaluronic a...
متن کاملClinical trial to evaluate the performance of a flexible self-adherent absorbent dressing coated with a soft silicone layer compared to a standard wound dressing after orthopedic or spinal surgery: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND Postoperative wound infection is a preventable risk. One potential postoperative complication is blistering, which leads to increased pain, delayed healing, and higher care costs. The incidence of wound blisters has been reported to be between 6 and 24%. The aim of this study is to assess whether the risks of postoperative blistering and wound infections within the first 6 days posts...
متن کاملSynthesis, characterization and polymerization of a novel acrylate monomer containing both 4H-pyran-4-one and 1,2,3-triazole moiety and evaluation of their antibacterial activity
A novel acrylate monomer containing 4H-pyran-4-one and 1,2,3-triazole ring, {1-[4-(4-oxo-6-phenyl-4H-pyran-2-yl)benzyl]-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl}methyl acrylate was synthesized by the reaction of 2-{4-[(4-(hydroxymethyl)-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)methyl]phenyl}-6-phenyl-4H-pyran-4-one with acryloyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine. The structure of the acrylate monomer was established on the basis ...
متن کاملEvaluation of a non-adherent, povidone-iodine dressing in a case series of chronic wounds.
Here we report a product evaluation for a non-adherent, povidone-iodine (PVP-I) dressing, determining the clinical need for the product, performing a literature review, clinical evaluation and cost-analysis, and developing a recommendation. This evaluation included 20 patients who experienced dressing pain with the previous antimicrobial dressing. Two patients discontinued the evaluation and fo...
